How long have you been active with ISITC?
Celebrating my 25th year as an active member of ISITC this year! First conference was March, 2001.
What boards, working groups, etc. do you / have you participated in at ISITC?
My initial leadership role was as co-chair of the Settlements Working Group for 7 years prior to joining the board in 2014. I served three terms as a board member and am now serving on the Executive Leadership Committee. In both my board and ELC roles, I have acted as an executive sponsor for many Working Groups over the years, including Settlements, Reconciliations and Reporting, Payments, Securities Lending, and Margin and Collateral, as well as specific task forces established to address key industry initiatives.
What do you consider to be the top benefits of being active in ISITC?
The relationships ISITC enables to act as a bridge for various subject matter experts within your own firm to collaborate on solutions that benefit our mutual clients, and the service provider/partner community.
What is your role at State Street?
Currently manage the middle office transaction management Product team, helping guide the strategic direction and development of our transaction lifecycle management offering. This includes partnership across our front, middle and back office transaction management workflow on key industry initiatives and partnership opportunities.
What do you find most exciting about your current focus at State Street?
Many of the same goals we have within ISITC on defining process inefficiencies and automation opportunities across various investment product types apply to my role at State Street. Every day is something new to learn with a new product type or process flow nuance that we need to work together to solution strategically and implement in a way that can be leveraged for other clients.
What’s the most impactful career advice you received?
Manifest the life you want by holding yourself accountable to take the small steps every day to keep growing toward your goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Do you have a personal philosophy by which you live your life?
Work hard, play hard? When I first started attending ISITC 25 years ago, as you can imagine I was relatively young in my professional career. Rule no. 1 was and is to enjoy the down time after the meetings end. Network and build friendships. But, make sure you are at breakfast the next morning of the conference and ready to get to work! That applies across all aspects of my life.
