Former ISITC Board Member and GLEIF Head of Standards recognized for her contributions to the industry.
September 16, 2020 – Boston, MA – ISITC, the industry trade group focused on developing standards and best practices in financial services operations, named Karla McKenna as the recipient of the ISITC Standard of Excellence Award. McKenna was recognized during ISITC’s virtual event, ISITC Week 2020, taking place September 14-17, 2020.
The Standard of Excellence Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the industry and rendered exceptional service to ISITC, which is supported by the voluntary services of industry professionals. McKenna was selected as the recipient of the award due to her many achievements in driving the industry forward during her time with ISITC.
McKenna has been involved with ISITC for more than 10 years, serving as the Immediate Past Chair of the Securities Market Practice Group (SMPG) and as a board member for more than a decade. She not only designed and launched ISITC’s Regulatory Working Group, but also served as the Executive Sponsor.
In addition to her work with ISITC, McKenna has been actively involved in a variety of industry roles, including serving on the Boards of XBRL International, the Eurofiling Foundation and the Accredited Standards Committee X9 (ASC X9). McKenna also chaired the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 68 (ISO/TC 68) from 2006 to 2018 and continues work with the committee in the areas of standards interoperability, regulatory use of international standards and best practices for financial services standards.
Currently as the Head of Standards for the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) and Managing Director for the recently formed GLEIF Americas, McKenna is responsible for facilitating the development and implementation of GLEIF standards and leveraging international standards from organizations such as ISO to maximize data quality and the operational integrity of the Global LEI System.

The Standard of Excellence Award recipient is chosen annually by a committee of select ISITC board members, led by Erica Borghi, immediate past chair.
